[b]Colombo, 06 October, (Asiantribune.com): [/b]Leader of the Ceylon Workers Congress, Arumugam Thondaman at a press conference held at his party office on Thursday said that The Ceylon Workers Congress would support the opposition leader and UNP candidate Ranil Wickremasinghe at the forthcoming presidential election. "We believe that Ranil will win and that is why we decided to support him."

Thondaman, addressing a well-attended press conference said that the 19 point proposal of the CWC was presented to both candidates and after detailed discussions with them, the CWC felt more comfortable that Ranil will "deliver."

The 19-point Proposal of the CWC calls for the ethnic conflict to be resolved by negotiations to the satisfaction of all communities living in Sri Lanka while guaranteeing the rights of minorities

The 19 points proposals put forward by the CWC are as follows :

1. The ethnic conflict must be resolved by negotiations to the satisfaction of all communities living in Sri Lanka while guaranteeing the rights of the minorities.

2. The ethnic problem should be resolved by means of an extensive power sharing arrangement through institutions with devolved powers.
