Sri Lankan Navy Rescues Three Stranded Tamil Nadu Fishermen

Colombo, 20 March,(Asiantribune.com): The Sri Lankan Naval cadres saved three Tamil Nadu fishermen, who were struggling in seawaters, treated them at the forces hospital in Sri Lanka and sent them back to Tamil Nadu by air, on 14th March. They were fishing near Ramar Bridge and their boat, had rammed against a sand dune there and was broken in to three pieces.

Apparently they had lost concentration while fishing. All the three fishermen fell in sea waters and were struggling for want of help.

Sri Lankan Navy patrolling in the area rescued the 3 fishermen and took them to Sri Lanka. They admitted them at a Security Forces hospital and treated them there.

The three fishermen, who underwent medical treatment at the Sri Lankan hospital, came to Chennai by air 14 March, and were sent to Ramanathapuram.

In the meantime, Rajendran Nattar, State Vice-President of “Tamizhaga Meenavar Peravai”, Kadalaru Velayutham, President of “Ahila India Meenavar Sangam” and Kanyakumari Peter Dass, President of “Tamil Nadu Meen Thozhilalar Sangam” and the Executive Committee members of “Then India Meen Thozhilalar Samgam”, G. Balakrishnan, Gunasekaran, Soundararaja Naattar, Paapakoil Sakthivel and Ravanan met Mr. P.M.Amza, Deputy High Commissioner for Sri Lanka in Chennai at the office of the Deputy High Commission of Sri Lanka in Chennai. They presented him a shawl and conveyed their thanks for saving the fishermen and extended them medical treatment.
