Sri Lanka ‘Salpila’ at UNESCO

Paris, 01 April, ( Many visitors from different parts of the world to the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris on March 28 were seen enjoying a meal of appa or kotturoti with a cup of delicious Ceylon tea.

The occasion was the Sri Lanka Salpila at the UNESCO Delegation Office Complex at rue Miollis in Paris.

The visitors admiring the Bathik paintings and beautifully carved handicrafts, silverware, jewellery and many other Sri Lankan products on display were pleasantly surprised when they were treated to aromatic Sri Lankan tea at the Tea Stall which was one of the most popular stops at the Salpila.

Sri Lankan products were displayed at a dozen of colorfully decorated stalls. The companies represented Sri Lanka included Laksala, Barefoot and Guyapi.

Foreign visitors flocked in large numbers to the food stalls serving aappa, kotturoti and rice and curry and by early afternoon all food items were sold out. Ambassador Chitranganee Wagiswara thanked the Embassy staff for their voluntary contributions and the tireless efforts made to ensure the success of the Salpila. The profit will be donated to charity.
