More foreign students at OSC

Colombo, 14 June, ( Overseas School of Colombo (OSC) which caters more for foreign students had their graduation ceremony recently and out of the 25 students from 15 different countries. These 15 overseas students included, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Canada, India, Italy, Germany, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, South Africa, Switzerland, UK and USA. The balance 10 graduated were from Sri Lanka.

At the Graduation Ceremony, reflecting on the foreign Sri Lankan mixture, Laurie McLellan, Head of School said that the Class of 2008 really represent the school motto “Unity in Diversity”. The opening speech was made by Lavanya Jeyaratnam.

Foss, Head of English while encouraging the students said that the graduates should never be indifferent about important issues. Rex Hatherley, Managing Director, North Indian Ocean Trading (Pvt) Ltd said that the graduates should not fear to tak tisks and find the one passion they enjoy most and try to work in that area.

Scholarship student Saliya Ranchagoda managed to score the dhighest marks of the graduation class also spoke.

Students at OSC graduate with a fully accredited, American style High School Diploma and the vast majority also achieve the International Baccalaureate Diploma; the best access to quality universities throughout the world. OSC has been offering the IB Diploma for 25 years with many teachers being examiners and trainers. This clearly benefited the Class of 2008.

These graduates are heading off to university in Australia, Canada, India, Singapore, South Africa, UK and USA.
