Anti- terrorism protest rally in Italy

Rome, 01 July, (Asiantribune.com): Sri Lankans and other nationalities participated in a huge anti-terrorism protest rally in Milan, Italy. The demonstration against terrorism was held on 29 June, at Piazza Castello, Milan.

The aim of the demonstration according to the organizers was to invite people all over the world to get together to defeat terrorism. More than 5000 Sri Lankans - Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims, Italians and other nationalists who live in Italy participated in the anti-terrorists rally. “We are” Sri Lankans, we live in Italy" was the theme of the demonstration.Protest rally in Milan, Italy.Protest rally in Milan, Italy.

The demonstration was organized by various Sri Lankan committees and organizations in Italy.

Sri Lankans including Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims expressed their anger against Terrorism, and separatism by hoisting hundreds of Sri Lankan flags and thousands of banners with slogans reading such as -

* Don’t allow a foothold to killer terrorist, anywhere

* Reveal the true nature of LTTE terrorists who disseminate false news to the West

* Don’t allow the terrorist to destroy undivided Sri Lanka

* Terrorist misuse human rights in the West for the detriment of the Tamil community itself

* Arrest LTTE mafia gangs engaged in extortion of money from the Tamil diaspora

* We will never allow LTTE terrorists to divide or disintegrate

* Join our Milan demonstration against false propaganda, brutality separatism & extortions of the LTTE

Those slogans were in Sinhala, English, Tamil and Italian languages.

Participants appealed to all three ethnicities – Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims as well as all political parties in Sri Lanka to save the motherland from terrorists.

They expressed their anger against the killing of innocent civilians, Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims.

They expressed their thanks and gratitude to the brave Sri Lankan solders for saving and protecting the motherland.

They expressed their sincere thanks to the Government of Italy and to the Italian Police for recently arresting 33 LTTE terrorists.

The demonstration lasted for mote than 4 hours and the noteworthy feature was that speeches were made in Sinhala, English, Tamil and Italian languages.
