You saved Jaffna in
You saved Jaffna in 2001.Tigers were about to drive the army out of Jaffna after their success at Elephant Pass.Major General Janaka Perera,Major General Sarath Fonseka took control of Jaffna.General Perera contributed so much to Sri Lanka. He wowed to defend Sri Lanka at any cost.He was so confident of the fighting capabilities of the Sri Lankan troops. He is a big loss to Sri Lanka
Lost a Great soldier,SL Govt
Lost a Great soldier,SL Govt should capture Priharparan alive.
Major General Janaka Perera
Major General Janaka Perera was not only visible threat to the LTTE but also to the UNP leadership. He was planning to organize grassroots to get the UNP leadership crises resolved. Visible absent of the UNP high hierarchy at the event case some doubt of insider involvement.
In the past few months there were visible challenges to the UNP leadership from grassroots UNPer where Major General Janka Perera was involved in. Participations at the today’s event indicated that he was already on his way to challenge the UNP leader Ranil Wickramasingha in the coming months.
Unfortunately one more man who could take the UNP leadership was bump off.
Dear General, Tamils like me
Dear General, Tamils like me are indebted to you for saving thousands of Tamils from the terrorism of the LTTE. If you had the ability to continue your military service, you would have saved NE Sri Lanka long ago. We in USA are convinced you had to face lots of discrimination from Sri Lanka Military Service and the past and the current government of Sri Lanka both while in service and after retirement. May Lord Buddha and Lord Ganesha bless the injured for speedy recovery!
AT THIS MOMENT PEACE-LOVING,
AT THIS MOMENT PEACE-LOVING, ANTI-LTTE TAMILS HAVE MORE RESPECT TO THE LATE GENERAL PERERA THAN PRESIDENT RAJAPAKSA, WHO SHOULD HAVE ORDERED THE LAW ENFORCEMENT AUTHORITIES TO PROVIDE THE MAXIMUM SECURITY TO THE GENERAL, IF THE PRESIDENT HAD A MODICUM OF APPRECIATION OF GENERAL PERERA'S HEROISM.
IT'S UNAVOIDABLE THAT PRESIDENT RAJAPAKSA, HIS GOVERNMENT AND THE MILITARY BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEATH OF THE GENERAL AND MANY OTHERS IN TERMS OF THE REALITY THAT THE GENERAL HIMSELF HAD TO GO THE SUPREME COURT TO APPEAL FOR SECURITY.

Politically jubiliant crowd
Politically jubiliant crowd and Janaka Perera
This suicide attack has been done when Janaka Perera was in a politically jubilant crowd. The walking bomb came and embraced him. The same way Rajiv Gandhi was killed by the LTTE. No security could be provided for a man who is walking into a crowd. Did Tissa Attanayaka advise Janaka Perera, who was increasingly becoming a challenge to Ranil's leadership, not to walk into crowds? Was Janaka Perera prepared to listen to such advise in his attempt to be popular? If he was not separated from crowds no security could have prevented this from happening. Like Always Tissa Attanayaka is speaking through his hat blaming someone else.Even our Army Commander had been attacked and nearly lost his life. Tissa Attanayaka should blame himself for supporting Ranil and making the LTTE so strong.
ALL POLITICAL PARTIES THAT
ALL POLITICAL PARTIES THAT ASK FOR VOTES FROM SINHALA people and especially Sinhala people of Buddhist ancestry and world view MUST UNITE.
Forget your party politics:::::>
You may be UNP, SLFP, JVP etc etc.....
That is from the Right Wing to the Left Wing of conventional Sinhala Politics...WE MUST UNITE.
GEt rid of ANY MOVEMENT AGAINST the SINHALA-BUDDHIST ONCE AND FOR ALL.
THEY MAY BE LTTE today and somebody some other time....LET US UNITE...AND FIND A SINGLE PARTY WITH DIFFERENT FACTIONS.......
OTHERWISE THE INVADERS WILL WIPE US OUT...OUR BRAVE and INTELLIGIENT.....

jayampathy ranaweera Deepest
jayampathy ranaweera
Deepest sympathies to all faced death owing to the LTTE's sucide bomber, can't be any one else.
Gamini Dissanayake to was eliminated the same way when he was contesting for the Presidential elections. This is another act by some 'NODANNA HASTHAYAK' as expressed by a former UNP Chief organiser when the UNP Leadership started eliminating ALL OPPOSING & OUTSPOKEN ACTIVE MEMBERS OF UNP during the tennor of
RP!
Very soon we can find UNP Leadership blaming MR and GOSL that adequate security not provided to JP.
When thorough checks were done anywhere UNP and also the JVP has a habbit of protesting for such checks which were done to apprehend the terrorist suspects. Now they themselves had to face the consequences.
Its high time for all peace loving Patriotic politicos of all parties to extend a genuine hand to the GOSL to eradicate the Terrorist menace - LTTE insted of finding and blaming GOSL, MR, Army Commander etc etc with unfounded allegations for the GREAT FIGHT THEY ARE CARRYING ON AMIDST MANY ODDS.
My condolences to the family
My condolences to the family of the General and Major. Those of us who have family members married to other soldiers will appreciate such a loss. Sympathies to all families of dead and injured.
I would like to bring attention to various LTTE diasporic elements in various websites following the General's death pretending to be either opposition or Government supporters, having a ball trading insults at each other and at VIP's, blaming this on them and not the real culprits. It seems that it is happening at a subtle level here too. It is important for patriotic Sri Lankans to realise this trick and not succumb to it by attacking each other. This should be a wake up call for all Sri Lankans to unite to eliminate the diaspora sponsored LTTE. They have created a dangerous precedent by crossing this line. It is a go ahead for many traumatised victims of the LTTE that any one is game; even when one is a civilian. Karma has a way of returning in it's cycle. The diasporic elements who have hatched these plans will face their own Karma. When that will happen will not be of their chosing.
Retd. Major General Janaka
Retd. Major General Janaka Perera was fooled by the UNP leadreship as he came forward to save the sinking UNP leadership.
On the other hand, UNP will never realize the fact that LTTE is the common enemy of democracy. When armed forces captured Thoppigala, UNP leadership said they have captured a useless jungle. Then went on to challenge the government (obviously to armed forces too) to go and capture Kilinochchi if possible. Today armed forces are in the vicinity of Kilinochchi. UNP has no vision now....
UNP leadership is becoming a cancer not only to his party but also to the entire country as here he has tried to survive politically using a war hero, who is an all time target of LTTE.
May the blessings of noble triple gem be with all those who victimized.
'Govt. responsible for the
'Govt. responsible for the attack at Anuradhapura! – Tissa Attanayake
LankaTruth 06th Oct: 2008.01.06 PM'
Here comes the usual allegation by Tissa(who speaks on behalf of RW)blaming the GOSL!!!
Q1:Who signed the treacherous CFA and allowed the LTTE suicide cadres to enter any part of SL UNCHECKED,where as no Army/Police or security personnel were allowed to enter the so called Tiger teritory?
Q2:After signing the CFA,Who allowed the LTTE to bring ship loads of weopenery into this soil keeping showing a Deaf and Blind policy?
Q3:Who allowed LTTE to go on a killing spree of Security personnel attached to Millenium City?
Q4: Who allowed an open Open Ceremony of UNP without even their own security as JP has said that he does not need GOSL security??
Hello TA, DO NOT RAISE YOUR TAIL, IT BRINGS VERY BAD SMELLING STATEMENTS!!!
A reminder warning!!!
Rajiv Ghandhi too faced the death from their own creators,Unfortunately a Great War Veteran was exposed to the LTTE purely due to personnel gains of the UNP hierachy!!
What happened to my namesake
What happened to my namesake is like an ace motor racing driver (Grand Prix Winner)losing his life for no purpose by participating in a donkey race (UNP politics)
When gamini Dissanayake died
When gamini Dissanayake died Chandrika blamed the UNP. Now when janka dies Ranil blames the Government. The blame game of the political opportunists will go on while the LTTE will continue to kill all of them. Sri lanka's problem is political expediency.Bloody fools!
It is these very Ranil and Chandrika who brought the LTTE to what it is today. They acted as ambassodors to the LTTE with their 'political solutions' and 'historical grievance'. Those two are responsible for this situation and no one else.
UNP is at fault for not
UNP is at fault for not providing his security if the govt refused because of the manpower shortage due the war. It was their man and UNP should have looked into his security. They have hoards of goons posing as ex military since Premadasa time. So they couldn't find 10 for Janaka Perera's security to screen who came to the party?
Come on UNP, so now you want the FBI and the Scotland Yard to waste their time to investigate when we know WHO DONE IT? Aren't you the same party that scuttled the Premadasa and Kobbekaduwa murder inquiries?
In addition to killing LTTE thugs, he slaughtered many Sinhala youth during Peemadasa regime. Perhaps his Karma finally caught up with him.
While we mourn yet another
While we mourn yet another tragedy, it seems some people are simply jumping to conclusions. Who very badly damaged the house of Johnpulle in Anuradhapura very recently? Wasn't the rampage by the political enemies of Johnpulle in the south? Isn't there a clear connection to all these incidents?
And I have seen many virulent verbal (text) attacks aimed at Gen. Janaka Perera at this very site merely because he was contesting on the UNP ticket. (And I do not belong to any political party)
As the United States has exhorted following this tragedy, a political solution is imperative to stop the spiralling violence.
I hope at least now that people will concede that the law and order situation that existed at the time Prez Rajapakse took over was far, far better than it is now.
If you would have died in
If you would have died in the war front it would have been easy to bear Instead you died for this "Petty politics 'that No body wanted which is what the tragedy here.
Since I have stopped paying attention to UNP politics so long ago I read you very little while you were on the stage.
I am sorry for been selfish at that point.
Yes I lament, as I lamented for General Denzil Kobekaduwa all those many years ago, many be a little less
You would have deserved a far more decent death than this but the fate has decided otherwise.
Government would have given him security regardless of his party politics.
Now the question is what Mr.Rani Wicramasingha has to say about this would be very interesting to read.
When and where would be the next target?
Let's unite at least even now.
Hey Mr.Thamby7..... How
Hey Mr.Thamby7.....
How about LTTE laying down arms, stop killing people, isn't that a solution....believe me there are much worse off people just as human as any TAMIL in Sri Lanka living in COMPLETE harmony with everyone else and their environment......WHAT IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT TAMILS....
IF YOU CAN NOT LIVE WITH THE SINHALESE GO TO YOUR HOMELAND IN TAMIL NADU.....BECAUSE SINHALESE ARE NOT GOING TO GO ANYWHERE....SOON...
You either live in PEACE with the Sinhalese AND the Tamil speaking Muslims....OR find another country that suits your requirements of a HOMOGENEOUS TAMIL COUNTRY......
May You Live Long & Prosper
Negotiations for a solution
Negotiations for a solution and the eventual laying down of arms was advancing steadily at the time the current Govt came to power. All the progress achieved at that time is now in total tatters. And as I have stated on more than one occasion, I am not a supporter of Eelam.
And sorry. I just saw a
And sorry. I just saw a report that this was a suicide bombimg. Therefore, it very likely was the LTTE.
It is indeed a sad day for
It is indeed a sad day for Sri Lanka.
Sad because:
1) A national war hero was killed by a LTTE suicide bomber terrorist
2) A national war hero was hoodwinked by the LTTE friendly UNP opposition party of Sri Lanka and its cowardly, inept but opportunistic leader Ranil Wickremasinghe to embark on a political campaign that was doomed to fail as it was founded on cheap, political opportunism with no regard to his welfare.
Perhaps Ranil Wickremasinghe must now ask the question from his LTTE friends (perhaps via the LTTE proxy in the national parliament, the Tamil National Alliance) “why did you take my man out this early when I have done, and am still doing, the best to come to power and give you separatists the breakaway “thamileelam”?”
Ranil and his coterie of unpatriotic opportunists in the UNP evidently coaxed this retired war hero to join in and play the dirty politics, including to utter disparaging remarks to denigrate/belittle the fine achievements of the current SLA campaign to liberate our motherland from the LTTE terrorists. Ranil and his coterie’s thinking was that getting a popular war hero to utter such statements would carry weight and demoralize the fighting forces (and the populace) and thereby, they would win at the polls. Sadly, this war hero fell for that ruse without realizing that he was only a mere pawn, in a much bigger, vile design. What they didn’t bargain for was (foolishly, as the lessons to be had are ample) that the murderous, unforgiving nature of the LTTE that in a most primitive fashion goes for the “bird in hand vs. the two in the bush” to rear its monstrous head this prematurely!
May General Perera and all other victims of this horrific massacre rest in peace/attain bliss!

Dear Mr.Thamby my friend
Dear Mr.Thamby my friend when on earth was this 'Negotiations for a solution and the eventual laying down of arms " ever took place? This is real news for me.
Might as well you share it with the reader when was this laying down of arms business ever took place genuinly. Can't be in this century for sure.If you are refering to the Ranil's blunder then donot talk at all.He was the very reason that we have so much of blood shed,it was his MOU .
For your information,I was told by the canadian tamil friends how they bought lands in the north during that MOU time thinking that Rani had given that part of the island Signed ,sealed and delivered to Mr,Prabakaran.but sadly all that money spent for investment was an utter waste. That was the undelying plan my friend,Whether you like it or not.
What type of progress did we achieve with the LTTE at that time my friend? How come that we cannot recall?
You know what the easy way around ,If we all give what Mr.Prabakaran wanted there woundn't have become any of this problems. The reason why we are all suffering The TAMIL,THE SINHALA,THE MUSLIM alike is that we do not give what he wants. We did not elect a government to give what Mr.prabakarna want ,we elected a government not to give what he wants.
I for once do not think that Law and order ever existed in sri lanka during any government in the past.but until and unless the terrorism is defeated there cannot be any chance for law and order ever.
Take off your Rose plated glasses and see through my friend.
It is good to read that you do not support Elam
Support your people instead my friend it's worth it.
Looky here! Just when you
Looky here! Just when you thought Saddam Hussien's Foreign minister Tariq Aziz was the Mother of all Liers (remeber how as he was saying to the journos on camera that Tikrit or some other town was still intact you could see in the background the city was being demolished by Yankees all around him)!!!!!! Pres. Bush reportedly said the deputy prime minister, the most visible face of the former Iraqi government other than Saddam, 'still doesn't know how to tell the truth.'
Then there is Thamby7 here arguing that "Negotiations for a solution and the eventual laying down of arms was advancing steadily at the time the current Govt came to power"! Far out! Who told you? Did the LTTE tell you they were decommissioning arms? Did they say when exactly? I thought you were not associated with them? Did the LTTE forget to tell the SL govt or the rest of the world that they were advancing steadily towards laying down arms? Mind you ADVANCING STEADILY as well- not going slow or anything! Who the hell this guy thinks he is fooling I have no idea!!!! Tariq Aziz, eat your heart out man!
