Great stuff SLA. We don't
Great stuff SLA.
We don't want to hear any political statements from SLA high command specially the SLA commander, but the complete liberation of the North.
Let the politicians do the talking..
Reading about Dutu
Reading about Dutu Gemunu-Elara wars in Maha Wamsa and Thupa Wamsa during my younger days, due to the flowery literary style used by the authors, I used to wonder whether most of those incidents really took place. The deeds of the armies of King Dutu Gemunu led by his ten generals (dasa maha yodha), their attacks on the Chola fortresses surrounded by moats of water and mud sounded awesome, but somehow a bit too fantastic to true.
Yet history is being repeated right in front of our eyes today. If one takes away the flowery style from the ancient chronicles (or, if one inserts that language to the present battle reports) the similarity is startling. The President is providing the state authority (No, I am not going to call him Dutu Gemunu; Mahinda Rajapakse is good enough for me), Def. Secy. Gotabhaya is in the role of the advisor (Vihara Maha Devi filled that role in the chronicles) our valiant troops, lead by the present Generals and commanded by Lt.Gen. Sarath Fonseka is doing exactly the same thing that was done about 2100 years ago.
I humbly salute you, brave Sri Lankan soldiers and commanders. General Fonseka, your name will be recorded in our history, right alongside with ‘Nandi Mithra’, in golden letters.
