When a person cannot do what he wants to do and has to take orders from subordinates just to survive even men of good education could expose themselves to ridicule. I refer to what Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, Minister for External Affairs of India has stated below.
A news item in the media states that Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, has appealed to Sri Lanka to accept the LTTE’s offer of a ceasefire so that the civilians trapped in the war zone can be moved to safety. He further says that though the offer falls short of a declaration of a willingness to lay down arms he feels that the government of Sri Lanka should seize the opportunity presented by the LTTE. In his declaration I think he missed out two words.
Instead of saying "should seize the opportunity presented by the LTTE" it would have been more appropriate if he had said "should seize the opportunity so magnanimously presented by the LTTE".
I ask Mr. Mukherjee whether if the Sri Lanka army were to hold a ceasefire the LTTE would let the civilians that they use as a human shield escape to freedom among the government troops. I do not wait for an answer. He then brings in rather out of context, devolution of powers as required by India. If Mr. Mukherjee is worried about it he can rest assured that this country will never be divided into fragments.
Why does Mr. Mukherjee keep ordering us? Why won’t he first order her other neighbour Pakistan or even China to put their houses in order, to suit his satisfaction? Never mind China which is a super-power, if he could order Pakistan to put her house in order, to suit his satisfaction then he could at least think of putting into practice his idea of dividing this country to achieve the plans and designs of India which India failed to accomplish when she invaded us under the code name IPKF.

India to behave this way
India to behave this way near the end of the storey is quite disappointing. After the reports of SLA capturing hordes of Arms and Ammunition and also a powerful satellite station, why India calls for a truce with terrorists. If the same logic applied why India did blame Pakistan for the miserable terrorist attack in Mumbai in January. India should have sat with it Pakistan counterparts and negotiated a settlement, the one they are directing Sri Lanka to adapt. Then what about Kashmere issue, they should give4 in to the Terrorists. Also they should have given in to the demands of Sheik terrorists by resisting to storm golden temple.
If LTTE was genuinely involved in helping the Tamil community by supplying them with food, medicine, and education better than the government was doing it was a different issue. But LTTE was arming themselves to the teeth, and bombing cities in the south at will to get GOSL to surrender to their terms. Which democratic country has ever given in to a bunch of terrorists anyway?
At lease at this final moments, India and other peace loving countries around the world should help SLA to wipe out the remaining pockets of armed terrorism, and help GOSL to build a prosperous Sri Lanka for everyone.
No need to even respond to
No need to even respond to these jokes. India must understand one cannot make peace with the murderer of one's own mother,farther sons and daughters. It simply is not possible. LTTE is still sending planes filled with explosive into civilian targets in colombo. They are killing their own people to save their leaders' lives. They have hearts filled with hatred towards the rest of the Sri Lankans.
If LTTE's offer for a ceasefire is genuinely for the sake of the trapped civilians then before the commencement, they should demonstrate so by laying down arms. Once the ceasefire is over LTTE should not be in a position to start another round of war perhaps after replenishing their now depleted assets.
Anything short of laying down of arms by LTTE is not viable - at this stage. Do not forget TN is all the way behind LTTE ... look at the latest recoveries in Wanni. LTTE losing = TN loosing. They are crying because the loss has affected their otherwise arrogant souls.
India should listen to reason or be damned!
sometimes learned men loose
sometimes learned men loose their head and do not mean what they are talking. That is what Mr.Mukherjee has done. The world is in such a state because of such poiticians. President Bush is another example.
