Singapore Interpol directed to nab Sicille Kotelawela: CID tells Mt Lavinia Magistrate

Colombo, 01 April, (Asiantribune.com): Interpol is acting to arrest Sicille Kotelawela, wife of the now remanded Ceylinco Group Chairman Lalith Kotelawela, the Criminal Investigations Department told Mount Lavinia Magistrate Harsha Sethunga yesterday.

The CID told the Mount Lavinia Magistrate that it had sent a copy of the arrest warrant which the Magistrate issued for the arrest of Mrs Kotelawela to the Singapore Branch of Interpol as she has claimed that she is receiving treatment at a Singapore hospital and evading arrest.

This was the contents of a report that the CID has submitted to the Magistrate on what action it had taken on the arrest of Mrs Kotelawela who has also been implicated in the Rs. 26 billion Golden Key Credit Card Co. Ltd case, the largest corporate scandal to rock independent Sri Lanka.

Mrs Kotelawela had arrived in Singapore despite being requested to be present in Court and the arrest warrant being issued by the Magistrate when she was evading arrest.

The CID has also told Court that it will obtain a medical report on the true health situation on Mrs Kotelawela in the wake of her claims that she is in a Singapore hospital receiving treatment.

Her husband Lalith Kotelawela who is also embroiled in the scandal, and who was remanded, is now in the Merchant’s Ward of the Colombo National Hospital!
