Sri Lanka condemns attack on the Sri Lanka Mission in Oslo

Oslo, 12 April, (AsianTribune.com): Storming of the Sri Lankan Mission in Oslo has been condemned very strongly. Sri Lanka has urged to take immediate steps to arrest those criminals and brought to justice immediately.

Dr. Palitha Kohona, Secretary to Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Asian Tribune , Sri Lanka has condemned this attack on the Sri Lanka Mission in Oslo in the strongest terms and we believe that in consistent with legal obligations, Norway should have ensured the Security of our Embassy in Oslo.

We also express our strongest hope that the necessary legal measures will be taken to bring the criminals who committed this dastardly acts to justice. Again, in consistent with their legal obligation Norway should provide adequate security to the Embassy staffs and to their belongings, Dr. Kohona pointed out.

It is reported that a group of of pro-LTTE Tamils living in Oslo stormed the Embassy building around 1 PM on Sunday. They broke opened the main entrance door and inflicted heavy damages on the Embassy.

Even at the time of posting this news item, so far no one has been arrested. It is suspected that all those participated in the incident would have been recorded in the Security & Surveillance Cameras installed in the building.
