Spreading An Attenuated Dose Of LTTE Terrorism In Ottawa

By Rajendra Alwis – Ottawa

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), which came into being nearly three decades ago in Sri Lanka, grew to be the most horrendous terrorist organization in the world possessing land, sea, and air fighting capabilities.

Similarly, their infamous history is also not second to any other terrorist organization in the world. However, during the last two and a half years, under the able Leadership of President Mahinda Rajapakse, Sri Lankan Army, assisted by the Sri Lankan Navy, Air Force and the Police were able to almost completely uproot this terrorist organization, and bring them down to their knees.

In this backdrop, during the last few days, the LTTE sympathizers in Canada have flocked together around the Parliament Hill seeking the intervention of the Canadian authorities for a “ceasefire” in Sri Lanka, inconveniencing the traffic and general public to the maximum, in the down town.

Their improper usage of toilets, over the days, in the neighboring restaurants has left breeding grounds for germs and infections. In the present context, the City has to pay, out of taxpayer money, several thousands of more dollars as overtime for the city police and paramedics and other officials to care for the protesters at a time when they are spreading the attenuated doses of terrorism in the country, blatantly abusing the democratic rights honored in the land.

Presently, the LTTE is miserably caged in a 17 square kilometers patch of land designated by the Army as ‘No Fire Zone’ in the northeastern costal line in Sri Lanka, as a safe area for civilians. Thousands of civilians are held in hostage in this zone by the LTTE as human shields for their own protection. The LTTE is solely responsible for the untold sufferings of the innocent Tamil civilians at present undergoing in the 'No Fire Zone'. However, in the circumstance, the Sri Lankan Army has now launched a marathan humnterian operation, the first of its kind anywhere in the world, to resuce thousands of civilians held hostage as human shields by the LTTE.

The Tiger Cubs operating in Canada, are true chips of the old block. I wish to recall that RCMP, time and again, has warned the Canadian Government that Canada is becoming a fertile ground for Tiger terror operations. The conflict in Sri Lanka is an internal matter, it is up to government of the country to settle it in the most judical way possible. Arrangements are well under way to do this. Sri Lanka is a sovereign county and no other country will export “ceasefire” orders to her. That is the bottomline. The need of the hour is to curb the trials of launching miniature models of terror operations by the Tamils Tigers in this this country, inconveniening the right thinking citizens, especially living in the National Cpital Region.
