Colombo, 29 April, (Asiantribune.com): Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa , with reports indicating the possible threat of Swine Flu in the Asian region, has ordered the Health Ministry Officials to take swift measure to prevent the virus entering the country.
He also instructed to take adequate measures to quarantine all the foreign objects that are imported to Sri Lanka, including plants and crops arriving from suspected locations of having been effected.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa at a meeting with the Secretaries of the Ministries yesterday (28), instructed that measures be taken to ensure that disabled person have access the premises of all Government Institutions.
He said that a Task Force comprising Government officers and the security forces will be setup to fortify the ongoing development activities in the North.
Sri Lankan President also instructed the Secretaries to make use of vacant premises of Government buildings or else rent them out to the required government establishments.
He also noted that the Government institutions should give priority to purchase the products of the Embilipitiya and the Valaichchenai Paper Mills.
Expressing his dissatisfaction over the activities of several INGOs, the President noted that funds received by INGOs for Tsunami reconstructions have not been utilized properly, especially in the North.
Expressing his confidence that the Secretaries of the Ministries will bestow their fullest contribution to these endeavors, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said just as the heroic soldiers do not confine their work to week days and regular hours so too should the Secretaries work tirelessly in serving the people.
