Sri Lanka: Ninety fourth branch of Sampath Bank opened at Kohuwala

Colombo, 28 November, (Asiantribune.com): "We are the pioneers of the real time on-line banking system that revolutionized the banking system in this country," said Anil Amarasooriya, Managing Director/CEO, Sampath Bank at the opening of the 94th Branch of the Sampath Bank at 81, S de S Jayasinghe Mawatha, Kohuwala last week.

The Kohuwala Branch was declared open by Earnest Gunasekera, Director, Sampath Bank.

Amarasooriya said they have started Sampath Bank with only around Rs 25 million which has now grown very fast and are in a comfortable position with capital and shareholders income at Rupees Six Billion mark, well above the Central Bank capital requirement of Rs 2 ½ billion.

He said that their Bank is equipped with the technology of real time on-line banking and they have the honour of revolutionizing the Sri Lankan banking industry by computerizing their banking system about 20 years ago and they are providing their customers 24 hours a day banking.

He said that the high progress made by Sampath Bank is not the work of one individual, but the success is the team effort by the Sampath Team which now stands at 1,800 strong

The first deposit of Rs 2.5 million was deposited by Jagath Sumathipala, Managing Director, Sumathi Group.

Ms Gayathree Wijesinghe, Manager, Kohuwala Sampath Branch moved the vote of thanks.
