ALL ACCUSED SENTENCED TO DEATH PENALTY WERE RELEASED

ALL ACCUSED IN THE BINDUNUWEWA MASSACRE OF 27 TAMILS UNDER DEATH SENTENCE WERE RELEASED BY THE ORDER FROM THE PRESIDENT OF SRI LANKA CHANDRIKA BANDARANAYAKE KUMARANATUNGE THROUGH THE DISTRICT MAGISTRATE. ALL ACCUSED IN THIS MASSACRE ARE SINHALESE BUDDHISTS. 27 YOUNG TAMILS WHO WERE IN THE REHABLITATION CAMP MANAGED BY THE GOVT. OF SRI LANKA WERE HACKED TO DEATH BY THE SRI LANKAN ARMY PERSONNEL.

THIS IS THE SECOND MASSACRE IN A PRISON CAMP IN SRI LANKA . THE FIRST MASSACRE WAS IN JULY 1983 IN WELIKADA MAXIMUM SECURITY PRISON IN WHICH 53 YOUNG TAMILS WERE HACKED TO DEATH BY SECURITY OFFICERS AND SINHALA PRISONERS.

IN JULY 1983 KNOWN AS BLACK JULY 8,000 TAMILS WERE KILLED BY SINHALESE WITH THE HELP OF THE ARMY AND THE POLICE AND 50,000 HOUSES BELONGED TO THE TAMILS WERE BURNT DOWN AND LOOTED BY THE SINHALESE.
