Colombo, 27 January, ( Killing a total of 11 LTTE cadres in two separate incidents yesterday in the Eastern province was the response given to Anton Balasingham, the Chief Negotiator of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, for his reprehensible remarks made against the TamilEela Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal and it’s leader Colonel Karuna alias V. Muralitharan, said a spokesman of the outfit.

Thooyavan, the spokesman of the Tamil Eela Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal led by Colonel Karuna in a statement said that after the 'Good Friday' attack by the Vanni Tigers on 09 April 2004, We gave up arms, dispatched about 4,000 of our armed cadres back to their homes and organized the TamilEela Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal, to enter into the democratic main stream.

"During that period of time" Thooyavan said, "we were provoked almost daily, but we unmindful of the provocations concentrated in organizing ourselves as a democratic formation with the view to be of service to our Tamil people as a democratic organization." "Unfortunately, the slaying of eight of our members at a house in Kottawa on 26 July 2004 and the killing of Colonel Reggie on 23 September 2004, has compelled us to reconsider our position and we were forced to take precautionary defensive measures against the scheming Vanni Tigers led by V.Prabakaran," the spokesman revealed.
