How much for a ride to the airport?

Compiled by: V.Rajeny

We were tortured, and was treated like slaves – Released Kennedy

By: Guna Kajananth at Omanthai

Guna Kajanathan , our rowing correspondent reports from Omanthai about the release of the prisoners. He writes that, while local and international press focused their attention on Caption Ajith Boyagoda, a senior naval officer captured by the LTTE, but the Tiger media concentrated its attention on Kennady, a senior commando, trapped by the government forces and our correspondent kept his eye on both. He reports of the pain and agony Kennedy underwent in the hands of the ruthless Sri Lankan authorities whilst in prison, compared to the decent treatment Ajith Boyagoda received from his captors, the LTTE.

Prisoners release a moment of reality

Speech given by Mr. Austin Fernando, Secretary of Defense at the prisoner exchange between the GOSL & LTTE in Omanthai on Saturday, 28 September 2002. This is indeed a happy occasion for all of us. This prisoner release has come about as a consequence of the ongoing peace process initiated by Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. The Leader of the LTTE, Mr Velupillai Prabhakaran, extended his cooperation to this process.
