PM leaves for Male on Monday

The Island:Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will leave for Male on Monday (16) on a one-day visit at the invitation of the Maldivian Government, the Prime Minister’s office announced yesterday.

Thailand to allow 128 Bangladesh items duty-free

Chiang Mai, Thailand Dec 13: Thai government officially agreed to allow duty-free export of nearly 128 items of six categories from Bangladesh to Thailand on non-reciprocal basis, giving a major boost to relations between the two countries.

In line with the objectives set by the Tokyo International Conference on
African Development (TICAD), the Government of Benin and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) requested the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) to develop a tailor-made electronic platform, TICAD Exchange to enhance trade and facilitate the exchange of related expertise between Africa and Asia.

Bangladesh-Thailand agree to expand bilateral cooperation

The Island:The government should address the issue of decommissioning the LTTE parallel to the peace talks. Addressing the weekly press conference held by the PA, presidential nominee for the peace talks, Lakshman Kadirgamar said yesterday that the govt. should include the issue of decommissioning the LTTE in the agenda for the peace talks.

Unidentified gang hurls bomb at EPDP office

The Island:An unidentified gang had hurled a bomb at the EPDP office at Mallakam, Jaffna yesterday (13) morning. Though police fired towards the gang that hurled the bomb no more evidence was available, police sources said.
