India’s First Hanging in 13 Years.

In India’s first capital punishment in more than a decade, 42-year old Dhananjoy Chatterjee was hanged to death at 0430 hours Indian Time Saturday (2300 Hours GMT Friday) for the rape and murder of a 14-year old school girl in 1990. In a strange twist of fate, the hanging coincided with Chatterjee turning 43, at the high-security Alipore Central Jail in the Eastern Indian state of West Bengal.
