Reginald Cooray was sworn in again yesterday as the Chief Minister of Western Province Council. Earlier on Friday, Governor Alavi Mowlana reappointed Reginald Cooray of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party as Chief Minister of the Western Provincial Council removing Nandana Mendis of Janatha Vimukthi Perumuna who took oath of office as Chief Minister on 22 June.

global paddy rice production will rise to 621 million
tonnes in 2005,Up by 16 million tonnes comparing to
year 2004 and it reaches the highest level on record
since 1999.

Inferno at PSO lubricant plant doused

A huge inferno that broke out in the lubricant depot of the Pakistan State Oil near National Refinery at Korangi Industrial Area here was doused by the fire brigade after six hours battle with the help of 50 fire tenders on Sunday morning.
