Footprints rewrite history of first Americans

Human footprints discovered beside an ancient Mexican lake have been dated to 40,000 years ago. If the finding survives the controversy it is bound to stir up, it means that humans must have moved into the New World at least 30,000 years earlier than previously thought.

Kadiragamar speaks his mind

By Mallika Wanigasundara

Was the unsigned, unauthenticated P-TOMS document distributed in Parliament identical with that signed by the LTTE signatory in Kilinochchi. The JVP asks this question and so do many others. With a government as servile to the LTTE, obedient to the international community [read US, Norway, EU, and Japan], untruthful, dishonest non-transparent and self serving as the rump of the UPFA anything is possible. Like the secret second swearing-in of President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, now a legal and electoral conundrum, it could surface as time goes on.

Portuguese: Religious conversion and ending Tamils’ Sovereignty.

By: K. T. Rajasingham

The four parts historical treatise By: K. T. Rajasingham concludes today, but it has stirred up the hornet’s nest over the history of Eelam or in other words Ilankai, Ceylon or Sri Lanka. Academics who dogmatically upheld the conservative historical theory are finding it difficult to digest the new aspects in his treatise. The geographical history has opened up a new vista about the country’s history and this should not be considered as revisionism as alleged by a few religio-ethnic historians. Geographical history is an aspect completely ignored by those who defended the religio-ethnic history and as and when new facts emerging in a pluralistic society like Sri Lanka it has to be analyzed objectively.Post Your Opinion

The onanism of the intellectual effete

This is a reply by Sanajana Hattotuwa, to the issues raised by H.L.D. Mahindapala on 02 July by his article “Portrait of an NGO “yes-man” – a late reply to Mr. S. Hattotuwa.” Asian Tribune welcomes the spirit of this debate between two intellectuals, but wish to suggest that the debate has to be conducted with more civility and the age of septuagenarian Mahindapala should has to be given all due respect according to the oriental and Buddhist culture of respecting the elders and revulsive usage of words such as “onanism,” “effete” and similar expression has to be avoided in the future - EditorPost Your Opinion
