One person’s 'terrorist' is another’s 'freedom fighter' slogan

Daya Gamage – Analysis to Asian Tribune

Sri Lanka’s separatist LTTE supremo Prabhakaran’s ‘Hero’s Day’ declaration last month that there is no clear, coherent, globally acceptable definition of the concept of terrorism goes with the old notion that “One person terrorist is another’s freedom fighter”. The United States’ and other Western Nations’ rejection of this slogan, to which Mr. Prabhakaran is hanging on to justify his movement’s separatist agenda, is clearly manifested in their pronouncements and policy statements in recent years.
