Britain’s Labor Party: No honour amongst thieves

Only last week Prime Minister Tony Blair and Chancellor Gordon Brown staged a show of unity in an attempt to halt the internecine warfare within the party over the timing of Blair’s departure from office. Brown, who had come under fire from the media and sections of the Labor Party for orchestrating the campaign to force Blair into publicly setting a date, praised the prime minister and declared that the issue of timing was a personal matter for Blair.

Mahinda Rajapakse: Photos tells it all

Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapakse met several leaders attending the United Nations General Assembly yesterday. He was also a guest of honour at the luncheon hosted by United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan. The dignitaries listed to meet President Rajapakse yesterday included President of the Swiss Confederation Motiz Leuenberger, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Ann Veneman, International Labor Organisation Chief Juan Somavia, King Abdullah Abdullah of Jordan and Norway Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg. He also attended a President a reception hosted by US President George Bush yesterday evening.
