'Focus of Pope- Rajapakse meeting is country's civil war'-Lanka's Apostolic Nuncio

Lanka's Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Mario Zenari speaking to Union of Catholic Asian News (UCANews) today said "The holy father is fully aware of the Sri Lankan conflict." Archbishop Mario Zenari also hoped that the talks "would bear fruit." Adding that the talks will also focus in particular on the displacement of people, violation of human rights, and discuss the case of a missing priest Fr. Jim Brown, he stressed "His holiness mentioned Sri Lanka four times in his recent messages." The Jaffna Diocesan Priests' Union, in a statement to the pope April 19, expressed deep concern about the disappearance of Father Jim Brown and his lay assistant, who have been missing since Aug. 20 in Jaffna, 400 kilometers north of Colombo.
