Australian Federal Member for Lindsay thanks Sri Lankans for their support at the last general election

A little boy with David BradburyDavid Bradbury, Australian Federal Member for Lindsay, made his remarkable first speech at the federal parliament on 18th February giving his sincere thanks to everyone who gave him support for winning his seat including members of the Sri Lankan community. David Bradbury entered Australian politic in 1998 as a Labor Councilor of Penrith City Council in New South Wales Australia. His first official community engagement as elected political figure was the Madu Rasanga – 98 which was organized and presented by Sri Lanka Arts Council of Australia Inc with support of New South Wales Government at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Center, Penrith.

Police conducts investigations on Modara bomb blast

Partly destroyed houseExtensive investigations are being conducted into the bomb blast at Ibbagewatte in Modera this morning. Police media spokesman and senior Deputy Inspector General N.K.Illangakoon says the explosion took place when the police was conducting a special search operation on a house in the area around 6 am in the morning. It was revealed that Police conducting surveillance, search and clear operations in the area have been tipped off by a civilian about the presence of this LTTE man inside this house, prompting the Police to surround the house early this morning in order to get the suspect out of the house.
