India Must Not Give into Bullying Mob in Chennai and immediately Release Prabhakaran Movie - Sri Lankans Demand

'Asian Tribune' is inundated with letters protesting India’s blatant inaction against what is considered a frontal attack on Sri Lankan Thushara Peiris’s right to have his Prabhakaran movie processed at Gemini Studios Chennai. He is now asking his film roll of his movie be given back to him and suitable legal action be taken agains perpetrators of hooliganism and shabby treatment given to Thushara in Chennai. It is India's sacred duty to show its avowed intentions to safeguard fundamental rights of those who ventured to have dealings with that country. The confrontational politics of rabble rousers and emotionally charged mobs in Tamil Nadu would do immense damage to India’s prestige as a peace loving Asian nation and if things are allowed to escalate into retaliatory response from her neighbors who expect India to act with accepted norms of international relations.

Power Devolution amidst Re-Integration Pursued in the East Giving Democracy a Fighting Chance

Sunday Discourse: By Philip Fernando in LA for Asian Tribune

Racially diverse East is holding its first ever Provincial Council elections after over a decade. Suddenly, the nosy western diplomats pontificating to the government about democracy are silently stuffing Tacos in their kitchens. Three Muslim MPs have self-forfeited their Parliamentary seats in search of the provincial pot of gold and the Opposition critics screaming political expletives outside the Election Commission’s office are now prognosticating their chances at the polls. The 13th Amendment is alive and kicking. Every thing is not as flawlessly smooth as it looks. But the democratization of a people ruthlessly held to ransom by suicidal LTTE racists is taking shape.
