European Commission funds the Tsunami affected Vakarai Maha Vidyalayam

Reconstruction works on the Vakarai Maha Vidyalayam complex started early this month in the Batticaloa District under the European Commission's Tsunami assistance programme for Sri Lanka. This school complex, is being financed from the EC’s overall post-tsunami aid package of EU Dollar 147 million (approximately LKR 24.2 billion) which covers not only affected districts in the South and East, but also has provision for support to the affected districts in the North.

Umbrellas with Tamil Eelam logo a new source to raise money for LTTE war-chest

Umbrellas are the latest tool the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) is going to use to raise money in the United Kingdom. The British Tamil Forum (BTF) members were seen promoting the multi-colored umbrella at a recent rally against Sri Lanka. Mustachioed Tamil men were seen holding them, even though there was no rain, at the recent LTTE rally during the Commonwealth Mini Summit in London.

Tamil Tiger terrorists arrested in Italy, on charges of extortion and drug related offences

It has been officially confirmed that 30 members of the LTTE who are involved in collecting money for the terror outfit by extortion have been arrested in the early. morning by the Anti terrorism Unit in seven different regions in Italy This operation has been conducted by the Anti terrorism units of Naples and Palermo, and involved over 200 police agents in various cities in the various regions. Sri Lanka Embassy in Italy in a statement reveals that at Palermo, the Authorities have arrested 8 Tamil suspects accused of membership to a terrorist organization.
