Impose President Rule immediately in Tamil Nadu – Dr. Swamy

The Union Government must impose President's Rule immediately on Tamil Nadu, because the state is paralyzed due to a spineless government, urged Dr. Subramanian Swamy. "Schools and Colleges are indefinitely closed down, the Courts have stopped work because of pro-LTTE advocates unrestrained by police, are engaging in hooliganism instead of arguing law for the people before judges, and no one in government is prepared to be answerable for any grievance of the public because the CM is hospitalized and incommunicado," emphasized in statement, Dr. Subramanian Swamy, Janata Party President and former Minister for Law and J ustice.

Mmischievous media reports distorted international perception of developments in Northern Sri Lanka - Ambassador Aryasinha

Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg and the EU Ravinatha Aryasinha has said, a series of mischievous reports filed over the past two weeks based on LTTE propaganda, had distorted the international perception of the ground situation in Northern Sri Lanka. This had detracted from sufficient attention being paid to the difficult task being accomplished by the government and the security forces, as well as the atrocities committed against civilians by the LTTE.

US Treasury imposes sanctions on Tamil Foundation

The US Treasury designated the US-based Tamil Foundation on Wednesday for acting as a front for a Sri Lankan terrorist organization. Sri Lanka’s Independence Day Celebrated in Italy

Ambassador Hemantha Warnakulasuriya"Today is a historical and important day for all Sri Lankans living in Italy. It is the happiest day of my new career as Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Italy, as on this day, I have been able to forge unity between the two major Sri Lankan communities living in Italy, the Sinhalese and the Tamils. Both communities suffered because of terrorism, and have polarised themselves into various cities, as they thought there would be a safe haven for them" said Ambassador Hemantha Warnakulasuriya. He was speaking at the Sri Lanka’s 61st Independence Day celebrations held at Sri Lanka Embassy in Rome, Italy.

Romantic destinations…

By Annik Bianchini

St Valentine’s Day on 14 February is regarded in many countries as the festival of lovers, a legacy from our ancestors the Romans. Couples take the opportunity to exchange sweet words and gifts as a token of love. But it is also an opportunity to take the one you love to a wonderful town or a magnificent region with legendary charms. France is bursting with such dream places which people would like to keep to themselves: the wild Loire, with its deep gorges and broad valleys; the mysterious Ardennes; luminous Corsica; the Côtes d'Armor, where you can take to the sea; the enchanting forest of Brocéliande. And then there is Sarlat, symbol of France’s culinary heritage; voluptuous Chamonix; Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, with its fragrance of lavender and, of course, Paris, which is still the eternal city of romance.

Kalyan Converts To 'Secularism'

By Chandramohan - Syndicate Features

The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader, Kalyan Singh, has now entered the 'secular' camp by joining hands with 'Maulana' Mulayam Singh Yadav, the Samajwadi Party supremo. As has happened after many previous cases of political conversions, a lot of people are upset, but in this instance more with Mulayam Singh than the chief 'demolition man' of the Babri mosque. What is the anger about? Politics in India is now almost exclusively based on crass opportunism and naked power play, far removed from any clash of ideologies. There is no shock value left when one leader sheds one political credo in favour of another one that may be diametrically opposite.
