US missile strike kills 25 northwest Pakistan

A US missile strike killed at least 25 people in Kahisur village, a remote tribal area of northwest Pakistan near the Afghan border on Saturday, security officials said.A suspected drone fired two missiles into a compound, where militants were staying and where they kept an ammunition dump, a security official said. According to sources, the drone attack targeted a compound allegedly used by militants. The compound was located in Khaisur village, 30 kilometres (18 miles) east of Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan tribal region.

Nepal Going Nowhere

India is the most favourite whipping boy in Nepal, but the exercise in its fury usually surfaces at poll time or at a time of national calamity, especially if it has anything to do with swollen or dry rivers. Lately, however, India-bashing has become a pastime in the former Himalayan kingdom now a republic under Maoists’ control. According to some reports in the Nepalese media there have been 54 ‘encroachments’ on Nepalese soil in recent days. A more specific allegation against India has been made by the parliamentary committee on international relations and human rights. After an ‘inspection visits’ to eastern Nepal, a team of the committee returned to Kathmandu to accuse India’s ‘Seema Suraksha Bal’ of encroaching into several acres of Nepalese territory.

Prabhakaran body recovered?

Latest report emerging from the war zone reveals that Prabhakaran’s body has been recovered and it has been flown to an Army camp in Colombo for DNA testing and to confirm it medically. At the time of filing this report it is learnt that Sri Lankan Army has so far recovered more than 35 dead bodies of the Tigers and they continue to collect more bodies. It is learnt that except for Dwaraka, the only daughter of Prabhakaran who is away somewhere in Dublin for her higher studies, said to be holding a Swedish Nationality Passport, all the other members of the family - Prabhakaran (father), Charles Anthony (son), Balachandran (son) and Mathivathani(wife) have deceased according to an unconfirmed report emerging from an army source, who wanted to remain anonymous.
