Jaswant Singh’s New Book

While I await my copy of Jaswant Singh’s new book “Jinnah, Partition and Independence” which is claimed to be a best seller both n India and Pakistan it was banned by the Gujarat government. However, after I began to write the Gujarat court has ordered the removal of the ban and Jaswant Singh’s application to the Indian Supreme Court against the ban is due to be heard today (September 8).

Kancheevaram bags two national awards

Tamil film Kancheevaram, a moving tale of a weaver from that town famous for silk saris, has won the national award as the best picture for 2007. It has also won for its lead star Prakash Raj, who plays the role of an anguished father unable to buy a silk sari for his daughter, the best actor award.

Stop Indian cricket team to Lanka case dismissed

The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking to stay the participation of Indian cricket team in the tri-nation series that began in Sri Lanka on Tuesday. The Bench said that court cannot interfere in the policy decision of the government.
