A four member Tamil National Alliance (TNA) delegation consisting of MPs R.Sampanthan, Mavai Senathirajah, Suresh Premachandran and Selvam Adaikalanathan have ended a sudden visit to New Delhi. Tamilnet website and Sri Lankan Tamil ne wspapers Uthayan and Virakesari said the TNA delegation had rushed to New Delhi following an official invitation from the Indian Government.

Acuity Stockbrokers (Pvt) Ltd in their weekly market review indicated that volatility continued this week amid signs of positive sentiment being witnessed towards the latter part of the week. The market saw indices being relatively flat on Monday while Tuesday saw the indices falling. The All Share Price Index (ASPI) closed the week at 3563.1 points up by 48.5 points or 1.4% Week on Week (WoW).

The condition of Communist Party of India - , 96, turned extremely critical on Saturday (January 16) evening after he suffered multi-organ failure, a medical bulletin said in Kolkata. The bulletin by the AMRI Hospital, where Basu is admitted, said, "He is in a state of multi-organ failure. His condition is extremely critical."
