Student Council Elections in Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University Campus

Prince Mohammad bin Fahd (PMU) University authorities have set up committee to monitor the Student Council elections inside its campus in an attempt to motivate the students community to inculcate leadership skill in them.

The budget appropriation bill for the year 2012 will be tabled today in the Sri Lanka Parliament. President Mahinda Rajapaksa who is also Sri Lanka’s Minister of Finance will present the budget on 21 November.

India to provide assistance of SLR 326 million for restoration of Thiruketheeswaram

India has come forward to assist with SLR 326 million for the restoration of Thiruketheeswaram Temple. Thirukethieswaram, an ancient temple in Mathottamam, in Mannar District, is about seven miles north of the Mannar Town. According to legend, it was at this ancient temple that Kethu Bhagavan worshipped Lord Easwaram (Shiva). Hence the shrine acquired the name of Thiruketheeswaram. Iravana’s father-in-law Mayan built the temple at Thirukethieswaram North of Mannar.

Congress scores zero out of four by-elections

India's ruling Congress finished third in the Hisar Lok Sabha by-election in Haryana where Anna Hazare had campaigned against it, and lost the other three assembly by-elections in Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra on Monday. Of the four states, the Congress is in power in all except Bihar.

The body of the late Mr. Thotawatte is lying in state at his resident in Nawala. He was 82 years of age.
