A major inter-provincial Irrigation in Sri Lanka awarded to China.

China has been awarded a major irrigation project that would provide irrigation facilities to Sri Lanka’s Northern and Eastern Provinces. The agreement for this project, the Yan Oya Reservoir Project was signed in Colombo yesterday. The project envisages to provide irrigation water for the Northern and Eastern provinces and drinking water for people in the Anuradhapura and Trincomalee districts.

Russia donates machinery and equipment to make Sri Lanka’s Northern Province free of land mines.

The Russian Government has donated four De-Mining Machines of MV-4 category and a large consignment of other equipment.
