Sri Lanka, without Sri Lankans

Finally, in a cauldron of insanity, a few grains of sense! The willingness to compromise displayed by the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU) has opened a path away from a new war. We can now discard the bogus ‘Halal issue’, and focus on real problems, such as the ricochet-effect of fuel price increases; or Sri Lanka’s tumbling international reputation.

Letter from America: Little Things Matter!

In the spring of 1979, I accompanied some friends who were traveling from Edmonton, Alberta to Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. Considering the long trip – almost 1200 kilometers, which can take at least 12 hours, we decided to leave at night and take turns driving the car. At night, with hardly any traffic on the highways, such trips usually take less time to reach a destination.

Washington Post: “Sri Lanka’s Squandered Opportunities”- A Response.

I am a Sri Lankan and a Tamil. My family is from Jaffna located in the Northern part of Sri Lanka. I have carefully read your article “Sri Lanka’s Squandered Opportunities”, and was thoroughly disappointed by its one sided twisting of factual information. I am disappointed how the West keeps using my people as a means to their own political ends. We Tamils in Sri Lanka have not provided any mandate to anyone to speak or write or advocate on our behalf. 27 years of terrorist brutality ended in May of 2009, bringing peace and tranquility to Sri Lanka and all its people.
