President Rajapaksa and First lady Visit Religious Sites in the Old City of Jerusalem

President Mahinda Rajapaksa and First Lady Shiranthi Wickremasinghe Rajapaksa visited religious sites in the Old City of Jerusalem Wednesday (Jan. 08) afternoon. The historic Old City is home to a number of sites sacred for the Christian, Islamic and Jewish faiths.

The Dome of the Rock is one of the most sacred sites for the world's Islamic community. It is believed to be the site where the Prophet Muhammad ascended to heaven.

Chaudhry Aslam SP CID martyred in Karachi blast

A reputed Pakistan’s best known police-commander, Superintendent of Police (SP) Crime Investigation Department (CID) Chaudhry Aslam, near Essa Nagri embraced Shahdat in suicidal blast at the Lyari Expressway in Karachi today. Banned organization Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), claimed responsibility for the blast. TTP also attacked his house in 2011.

Kamalendran further remanded: Provincial Council grants leave of absence until 27th January

Kayts Magistrate S. Lenin Kumar further remanded Kandasamy Kamalendran, the EPDP stalwart and Leader of the Opposition in the Northern Provincial Council and also Lundan Sasindran and Rexigan's wife Enida Rexigan for the fourth time, until 23rd of January, when they were produced in the courts yesterday.
