The newly appointed Security Forces Commander, Jaffna Major General Udaya Perera in his first public appearance, awarded 100 scholarships at his first public function in Jaffna. He also mingled with the people who were present at the function and listened to their grievances.

Needy Kids Project in Sri Lanka that helps kids to protect the environment: An exemplary model to be emulated at the cost of ten cups of coffee for each kid

A bunch of 84 kids ranging from 6 to 15 years of age have assembled in the house of the organizer of the project from a village near Avissawella, to receive their school books and other routine needs like pens, pencils and erasers and school bags. They have come in their Sunday best, probably the only piece of decent clothing they have, smiling from ear to ear, with ever grateful looks on their faces to receive these gifts that could either make or break their school carrier and path to education, and hopefully a place in society.
