Will Myanmar farewell to war for national ceasefire?

An ethnic discontentment spreads out against the government’s offer publicly that signing of nationwide ceasefire accord wouldn’t be accepted without satisfactory guarantees for political dialogue and monitoring mechanisms. There is an unyielding demand from the country’s ethnic groups to have the benefit of equal political, social and economic rights. The Constitution must guarantee the rights of autonomy and of equal representation for every ethnic group in the Parliament.

Most Sri Lankans, especially the Sinhala majority of the country would applaud the government if it moves a counter resolution at the UNHRC in March this year to probe possible human rights violations, crimes against humanity and possible war crimes since 1975, the year that the first political murder related to the subsequent armed conflict was committed by the terrorist leader Prabakaran.

U.S. Embassy Extends Fulbright Program with Maldives

\Today, the United States Embassy and the Government of Maldives signed a new Memorandum of Understanding extending the prestigious Fulbright Program for an additional five years. The Fulbright Program enables qualified Maldivian candidates to complete graduate studies in the United States on a scholarship basis. It also allows for the exchange of U.S. academics to conduct research or teach in Maldives.
