66th Independence Day Celebrations – Sri Lanka Embassy, Germany

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Berlin has celebrated this year’s Day of Independence with a Ceremony on 4th February and a Reception on 8th February. Both events took place at the Embassy premises.

Ministerial delegation to South Africa

A delegation led by Mr. Nimal Siripala de Silva, Leader of the House and Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Management, will visit South Africa from 20 th to 21 st February 2014 for discussions with that government and the ruling African National Congress party.

Minister Dissanayake concludes a successful visit to Cuba

Minister of Higher Education, S.B. Dissanayake accompanied by Mrs. Tamara Dissanayake and Assistant Secretary/Administration, Mrs. Shanika Weerasuriya, visited Cuba for the 9th International Congress on Higher Education held in Havana from 10th - 14th February 2014, on an invitation extended by the Cuban Minister of Higher Education, Rodolfo Alarcon Ortiz.

UN not sure any 'wrong-doing' occurred in Sri Lanka's final stage of war

"It’s clear that there continues to be a need for all the facts to be learned and for there to be a study of whether there’s any wrongdoing that’s occurred in the course of the final phases of the Sri Lankan conflict", was what Farhan Haq the spokesman for UN Secretary General said at a media briefing on Wednesday, 18 February at UN headquarters in New York to a question raised by the media.
