“My highest regard for the Judiciary” - Rishad

Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen expressed his highest regard for the Judiciary. “I express my highest regard for the Judiciary. I regret for the unauthorised use of the telephone” said Minister Bathiudeen on 14 March in Colombo.

Health Ministry distributes ambulances to 7 provinces

The Ministry of Health has distributed eighty six (86) brand new ambulances with intensive care facilities to hospitals in seven Provinces in Sri Lanka, namely the Northern, North Central, North Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Eastern Provinces. The ambulances were handed over at a ceremony held at the BMICH on 11th March 2014, to mark the current National Health Week (10 - 17 March 2014).

Donation of 50,000 MTs rice from the people of Sri Lanka to the World Food Programme

Sri Lanka yesterday donated 50,000 metric tons of rice to the World Food Program (WFP) for free supply to 10 countries in Central Africa and South Asia. President Mahinda Rajapaksa made a symbolic handover of the consignment of rice to the WFP Representative and Country Director Ismail Omer at the Presidential Secretariat.

More revelations of MP Rathika Sitsabaiesan's visit to Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu, South India have now surfaced. She claimed that her private visit to Sri Lanka after some 27 years was to meet with relatives and see her former home in Jaffna and engage in some charitable work just before the March 2014 UNHRC sessions in Geneva.
