Vesak Celebration and Almsgiving at the Sri Lanka High Commission in the UK

The High Commission of Sri Lanka in the United Kingdom organized an almsgiving for twenty Venerable members of the Maha Sanga representing the Buddhist temples in the UK, on Wednesday 14th May, with the participation of the Sri Lankan community, as part of its Vesak Celebrations, and also to invoke blessings on President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the Government and the people of Sri Lanka.

416 Former Volunteer Teachers Posted as Teachers Assistants: Another already absolved 508 Volunteer Teachers to be trained

Northern Provincial Ministry of Education has posted 416 former Volunteer Teachers as ‘Teachers Assistants’, after undergoing 2 years teachers training at Kopay Teachers Training Colleges. Also it has been decided that another batch of 508 former Volunteer Teachers, who have been already absolved in the Provincial Education Service to be given 2-year training at Kopay Teachers Training College.
