International Day of Vesak celebrated at the United Nations

The United Nations (UN) in New York commemorated the International Day of Vesak in accordance with General Assembly Resolution 54/115 at a well-attended ceremony held in the Trusteeship Council in the UN Conference Building on the 13th May, 2014.

Felicitation evening held to honour Lanka’s Former Envoy to Pakistan & Ex Army Commander

The Sri Lanka Pakistan Friendship Association (SLFPA) in collaboration with Pakistan High Commission held a felicitation dinner, last evening, to honour SLFPA’s Immediate Past President General Srilal Weerasuriya in recognition of the conferment of high civil award on him by the Government of Pakistan.

President Rajapaksa Arrives in Shanghai

President Mahinda Rajapaksa arrived in Shanghai, China, this morning, beginning a visit during which he will attend the 4th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

President Mahinda Rajapaksa arrived in China this morning. The President was welcomed at the Pudong International Airport in Shanghai by Deputy Secretary-General of Shanghai Municipal Government Mr. Huang Rong, Executive Vice President of Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (SPAFFC) Mr. Wang Xiaoshu and Sri Lanka’s Ambassador in China Mr. Ranjith Uyangoda.
