Lalin’s Column: Canadian Boycott

Immediately after the 1971 JVP insurgency when many countries offered to help equip and train the SL (Ceylon) forces, the Canadian Government which does not on principle give military hardware to other countries, offered to build a fully equipped mechanical transport workshop and provide complete skills training using its own military instructors. Diyatalawa was selected by them for this purpose.
