The newly opened Sri Lanka Embassy in Bahrain conducted its first Vesak Programme from 15-19 May 2014 with the involvement of the expatriate Sri Lankan community, as well as Sri Lankans working in three garment factories in Bahrain.

Solomon Islands greatly values Sri Lanka’s support in the aftermath of devastating cyclone

President Mahinda Rajapaksa, has sanctioned a cash donation of US $ 50,000/- from the Government and the people of Sri Lanka to the Government and the people of the Solomon Islands as a gesture of solidarity and assistance, to support the rehabilitation, resettlement and reconstruction programmes underway in Solomon Island after the last month’s devastating cyclone and flood water damage.

Vesak Celebration in Malaysia

The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for the first time, in coordination with the Brickfields Buddhist Maha Viharaya and Sri Lanka Buddhist Viharaya, Sentul organized an overnight Pirith Chanting ceremony and Heel Dana for twenty five Venerable members of the Maha Sanga invited from Sri Lanka and representing Buddhist Temples in Kuala Lumpur at the Chancery premises on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th May.
