‘Lanka handlooms special’-Int’l Design Expert

Just as the US demand for Lankan handlooms surged, an international design expert called on 30 June the country to further strengthen its design and promotion capacities-and Sri Lanka’s handloom designs continue to have a special identity.

Some progress in India buying French Rafale

On Monday when India launched a French satellite, the French foreign minister Laurent Fabius held talks with Indian foreign and defence ministers on bilateral strategic partnership, and pushed for early purchase of the multi-billion dollar Rafale combat aircraft. Space, civil and nuclear energy cooperation, defence and counter-terrorism were the focus areas of India- France cooperation.

The High Commission of India announces the offer of eight (08) scholarships for Sri Lankan Nationals under the “Ayush Scholarship Scheme” for UG/PG/Ph.D courses in Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha ,Homeopathy and Yoga during the forthcoming session of 2014 – 2015.

New Heads of Mission Present Credentials to President Rajapaksa

Two new high commissioners and three new ambassadors presented their credentials to President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariat this morning.

The diplomats assured continued cooperation with Sri Lanka towards strengthening relations. They spoke about existing friendly relations and their interest in collaborating in various sectors. Minister of External Affairs Prof. G.L. Peiris, Secretary to the President Mr. Lalith Weeratunga and Acting Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs Mrs. Chitranganee Wagiswara were present.
