United States, Ministry of Water Supply & Drainage Show Support for Water Conservation

Lanka Rainwater Harvesting Forum held its 11th annual symposium last Friday, September 5, 2014. The symposium brought together experts in the field of water conservation and provided a platform to present research findings and discusses best practices and key challenges related to rainwater harvesting in Sri Lanka and other countries.

World’s ICT leader announces pioneering delegation to Sri Lanka

The first ever high level trade & business delegation to Sri Lanka from the World’s ICT leader is now mulled for early December, as revealed on 04 September in Colombo. “I have been able to encourage my government to renew trade cooperation with Sri Lanka. Shrinath Viswanathan excel in debut performance

As the audience stood up to drown out the emcee’s voice with their applause, a shy 14 year old put down his mridangam and bowed. Shrinath Viswanathan, a student of guru A.R. Balaskandan of New York, presented his Mridangam Arangetram (debut performance) at the main auditorium of the Hindu Temple in Queens, New York on Sept 6.

Sri Lanka Defence team visits Indonesia

Graceful dance movements by Samiksha

Samiksha Vittalraj, disciple of Guru Thejaswini Raj presented her Bharathanatyam Arangetram on behalf of Shivajyothi Dance Academy in Queens last week. The program commenced in Mallari with Ganapathi Mantra as Mallari is an invocatory item derived from the Nadaswaram tradition. She followed it with Alarippu – an innovatory rhythmic piece for the salutation to God, Guru and the audience. She went on to perform Jatiswaram that is an ornamental dance item of Nritta and pure rhythmic segments.
