Sri Lanka Condemns Act of Terror in Sydney

The Government of Sri Lanka vehemently condemns the siege by a gunman on Monday 15th December at a café in Sydney’s central business district where 17 people were held hostage and resulted in the death of two hostages and injured five including a policeman.

resident Mahinda Rajapaksa tweeted the Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbot  conveying that he is ‘deeply disturbed’ by the incident and ‘Sri Lanka stands united with Australia in fighting terrorism’.

LTTE wants a ‘Greater Tamil Nadu,’ including North-East of Sri Lanka - Tamil Nadu Government

While seeking to extend the ban on the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), the Indian Centre and the Tamil Nadu government told a tribunal that the banned outfit nurtures an idea of “greater Tamil Nadu, which includes the state of Tamil Nadu, part of Kerala, part of Karnataka, part of Andhra Pradesh and North-Eastern provinces of Sri Lanka”.

Sri Lanka Express Satisfaction Over The Release of 30 Fishermen & 19 Boats By Tamil Nadu

The Government of Sri Lanka notes with satisfaction the several media reports on a communication to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu O. Panneerselvam informing of the decision to release on 22nd December 2014, thirty (30) Sri Lankan fishermen and nineteen (19) boats currently in the State’s custody.
