Embassy of Sri Lanka in Paris celebrates Thai Pongal Festival with the Sri Lankan Community

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Paris celebrated the Hindu Thai Pongal festival on 15th January 2015, a thanksgiving ceremony to the Sun God for bringing a plentiful harvest and prosperity in agriculture and also to the farm animals for their assistance in producing a successful crop. The event highlighted the significance of the occasion to all Sri Lankans as this Hindu cultural event is engulfed with hopes and aspirations, and encourages social cohesiveness, harmony and unity among the community.

Even though my head is bloodied yet I am Unbowed

Fallen heroes, Saya Aung Kin (Dr Aung Kin) has gone to join another Saya Aye Gyaw (Arakanese, Dr Aye Gyaw) who all originated from the History Department of the Rangoon University to meet with Dr Mya Maung and Saya Dr Khin Maung Kyi that had fought till their last breath and held high the emblem of the fighting peacock and its motto of flag even though my head is bloodied yet I am unbowed. Ba Maw Tin Aung is but one of the old heroes and many more.

Sri Lanka: Travel ban imposed on foreign passport holders lifted

The travel ban imposed in some parts of the country on foreign passport holders has been lifted in a directive by President Maithripala Sirisena, Defence Ministry’s Media Centre Director Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasuriya said.
