Hugo Swire meets new Sri Lankan President

British Foreign Office Minister Hugo Swire has concluded his second visit to Sri Lanka, in the first Ministerial visit since the formation of a new government.

UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office Minister of State, Hugo Swire called on President Maithripala Sirisena this afternoon (January 30) at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo. Minister of Foreign Affairs Mangala Samaraweera was also present on this occasion. (Pix By : Sudath Silva)

Richard Armitage lays down trajectory for Sri Lanka: Reviving US relations

In an OP-ED contribution to Wall Street Journal January 28, former United Stated Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage, along with Kara Bue and Lisa Curtis strongly advocates "the U.S. should move quickly to take advantage of the opening presented by the newly elected government (of President Maithripala Sirisena)" while laying down a trajectory for the revival of Sri Lanka-US relations.
