Maldives President Abdulla Yameen visits Pakistan

In the midst of heightened political confusion in Maldives, following the arrest and ongoing trial of former president Mohamed Nasheed, Maldivian President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom will be in Islamabad on 25 February on a two-day official visit. During his first ever visit to Pakistan, President Gayoom would meet his counterpart Mamnoon Hussain and would also call upon Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Sashi Weerawansa further remanded

Chief Magistrate of Colombo, Gihan Pilapitiya, yesterday ordered former Minister Wimal Weerawansa's wife, Sashi Weerawansa, who has been taken into custody by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for allegedly submitting false information to the Department of Emigration and Immigration and obtaining a passport as well as for preparing false documents, be detained until 4 March.
