He was assassinated by a Buddhist Monk, Somarama, and the plot to kill him was orchestrated and led by a business man who was a Buddhist Monk, Buddharakkitha. One should wonder why a Prime Minister who reputedly promoted the cause of Sinhala Buddhists was assassinated by Buddhist Monks.
