OHCHR Report And The Hybrid Special Court

United States of America presented resolution 25/2 to the UNHRC and it was adopted by a majority vote. This resolution gave a mandate for the OHCHR to monitor the human rights situation in Sri Lanka and to continue to assess progress on relevant national processes and also to undertake a comprehensive investigation into alleged serious violations and abuses of human rights and related crimes by both parties in Sri Lanka during the period covered by the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission with assistance from relevant experts and special procedures mandate holders and to present a comprehensive report at the twenty-eighth sessions.

Irony of inequality and Ogoni peoples struggle for life and land

Even as the 193-Member United Nations General Assembly formally adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development on Friday the 26th of September 2015, Akpobari Celestine, an Ogoni born human rights activist, National Coordinator of Ogoni Solidarity Forum Nigeria and a member of the CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness (CPDE) Post-MDG Working Group, echoed concerns of deepening inequality and the consequences of unrestricted business behaviour in his country in a conversation with Citizen News Service (CNS) in New York during the UN Summit for the Adoption of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.

Sri Lanka President Sirisena has won trust of entire world – Ban Ki Moon

The new President of Sri Lanka Mr. Maithripala Sirisena has won the trust of entire world, says UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon. Lot of countries have come forward to give helping hand to Sri Lanka’s way forward, he added.

Male: Explosion' aboard president's speedboat, president unharmed

An "explosion" occurred aboard a presidential speedboat Monday morning as President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim were returning to capital Male from the nearby airport island.
President Yameen and his spouse were travelling to Male from Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA), which is located on the nearby island of Hulhule. They returned home Monday morning after concluding their visit to Saudi Arabia to perform the annual hajj pilgrimage.

Explosion' aboard President speedboat, president unharmed
